This is a multi-cache that puts you at a significant place along the Appalachian Trail.

This cache takes you to two points designated as the center point of the Appalachaian Trail. The entire round-trip distance from the nearest parking area is about 2 1/4 miles.

Parking:
To get to this parking area enter the Railroad Rd. at N40 2.545 W77 15.756 (WSG84). Follow road behind the lake and the whole way back to the gate at N 40 01.890 W77 17.416 (WSG84).

Step 1:
Go to N 40° 01.825 W 077° 17.226 (WGS84)
A sign post marks the 1987 halfway point between Mt. Katahdin, Maine and Mt Oglethorpe, Georgia. The coordinates required to locate the physical cache in step 2 are obtained at this marker. Look closely at the marker for these coordinates.
Hint for Step 1: [TRG YBJ NAQ YBBX HC GB SVAQ GUR PBBEQVANGRF]

Step 2: The coordinates obtained at the marker in Step 1 to locate the physical cache have been provided by the Appalachian Trail Conference on (9/19/2002) designating the current center point of the Appalachian Trail. The cache is located in an obvious spot within 20 feet of the coordinates. No hints for finding the physical cache are necessary since it is a large unburied dry lock box (6“ by 12” by 9”).
