Small cache in an out of the way, under used meadow in Pennypack Park, Philadelpia, PA . It has a few interesting park cultural artifacts. Parking at Stanwood St. & Tabor Ave. at park entrance near N 40 04.310 W 075° 04.155 or 9700 Krewstown Rd. at park entrance near N 40° 04.599 W 075° 03.277
From the listed parking it is about a quarter mile to GZ. No need to bushwhack much, you can follow foot, two track, or horse paths to 30’ from GZ by quartering on the GPS bearing line.
EZ WAY: pavement down hill, R on horse/jeep path L. on dirt jeep Rd. when 100' short of RR. GPS from large clearing.
WARNING! WILL ROBINSON, DANGER! : The trains in this area move VERY fast. They pass about 15 times a day. There is a nice park bench on top of RR cut to watch from, but strongly urge no trespassing in cut. The cut is steep & tricky. The houses on other side of tracks are on a private street & owners are remarkably watchful. On the up side: Lots of nice paths in the park to choose from, & there is no need to get anywhere close to the tracks or cut.
When you approach you will see a line of whitish posts. There is a path inside them, please don’t make a beeline geopath to the cache. Cross the meadow grass some distance from GZ and approach on the path inside the posts. Look for a flatish stone Geopile.
In winter the houses across the railroad will have a distant view of cache area, be stealthy ( better yet be casual).
