Shusaku Chiba opened gym [gentakeshikan] of one Hokushin [katananaga] here.
There are a reason as an Edo three major gym and setting up with [neheikan] of a Shintoism regrettable style and the person study pavilion of the mirror new Akechi style.
There are a lot of celebrities at the end of shogunate as a pupil of [gentakeshikan]. Takashi San'nan associate , [toudouhira] associate [nado] of Kiyoshi [kawahachirou], Tesshu Yamaoka, and new [era] class. Moreover, Ryoma Sakamoto also learnt one Hokushin [katananaga] to Shusaku Chiba's [otoutochiba] fixed good luck.
[Gentakeshikan] is set up in the place in which it ..school gate mark.. entered, and the stone monument that commemorates that it was and the direction board is set up.
The gate is sent in though is closed usually. Please lock a gate neatly on one's return.

玄武館跡
ここに千葉周作が北辰一刀流の道場玄武館を開きました。
神道無念流の錬兵館、鏡新明智流の士学館とともに、江戸三大道場といわれたています。
玄武館の門人で幕末の有名人は数多くいます。清河八郎、山岡鉄舟、新選組の山南敬助、藤堂平助など。また坂本龍馬も千葉周作の弟千葉定吉に北辰一刀流を学びました。
校門跡を入ったところに玄武館があったことを記念する石碑、案内板が設置されています。
通常は門は閉まっていますが、中に入れます。帰りにきちんと門を閉じて下さい。
