A nice hike along a well marked trail. The distance from the
parking area to the cache is 1 mile as the Raven flies. Proably a
mile and a third for us ground dwellers. Raven Rock is one of the
jewels of Cooper's Rock State Park. The view alone is worth the
hike, now there is hidden treasure as well. Be sure to walk on out
to the end of the trail.
To help with the State Park plans, the main cache has been
relocated. The published coordinates will lead you to a film can
with the final coordinates. You will get the main cache on the way
back.
The cache is close to the trail so no bushwacking or rock
climbing is required. When the area is busy, you'll need some
stealth. The trail is rocky so good boots would help.
Be advised that the area is closed at dark. Also the main road
is closed and gated from around the beginning of December until
April 1. When the gate is closed add 1.75 miles to the hike to the
cache. Be watchful for snakes in this area.
Recently folks have been finding a Tupperware container, with
rubber stamps, for letterbox players while searching for the cache.
That is not the cache. The cache is an ammo can. (Don't accept any
substitutes for good trinket swapping :-) )
