Located at the historic Opepe township just off SH5. There are parking bays on both sides of SH5 with the cache being hidden in the old town site on the southern side of the road. There are nice walks on both sides of SH5 with the cache side having an old saw pit and regenerating native bush. The 20 minute walk on the northern side of SH5 hosts a number of forest giants in a mature podocarp forest. These large rimu and matai are probably the best such examples in the Taupo district and this walk is well worth the effort. Don't forget to look up into the canopy. The cache should be an easy and quick find in the open area of the old town site not far from SH5. The cache is a camouflaged 2 Litre container.
