Sharjah's Jungle Traditional Cache
Camel Master: As this cache is way off the beaten tracks and infrequently visited, I decided to archive this cache after the box has been eaten by camels.

A traditional cache hidden in a Ghaf tree “forest” in the Emirate of Sharjah
Between Falaj al Moalla and the Rafee'a area there runs an underground water stream which can be recognized by the copses of Ghaf trees (Prosopis Cineraria) amidst the sand dunes. Quite a number of farms have also been established in this broad swath of land. This has led to a network of hard sand tracks making this area accessible by 4WD and “normal” 2WD alike.
The cache is a standard plastic lunchbox camouflaged by being covered by a brown sock. It has been hidden in a particular dense copse of trees. 2WD vehicles can park their car on the side of the sand track, about 175 m away from the cache location. Lazy cachers in 4WD can try to approach the cache location even closer but might have to deflate their tires in the periods of the year when the sand becomes particularly soft. There are beautiful picnic spots nearby, but please remember “Cache in, Trash out!”
To reach the cache turn off at junction 10 on the Sharjah – Dhaid highway and head towards Tawi Dib. Use the following coordinates to get close to the cache:
N 25o 19.607’ Just after the end of the asphalt road,
E 55o 45.344’ keep to your left at a fork in the sand track
N 25o 19.509’ Park your car on the side of the track. It
E 55o 46.379’ is only 175m walking to the cache!
The theme for this cache hidden in Sharjah’s “jungle”, is just that: the animal kingdom. Originally it contained:
1. a log
2. a pencil and sharpener
3. one camel key ring
4. one gorilla key ring
5. a frog
6. a leopard
7. two moose (they’re twins)
8. a small book of Proverbs
