Geocache Description:

Moon (C) 2005 RBJ WARNING: The above coordinates are NOT the cache. This is an offset puzzle cache.

This cache may be found in four easy (!?) steps:

1) Go to the moon. (Remember to bring your camera and calculator!)

2) Stand on the point of the moon closest to Earth. (Wave! Give me a call and I'll wave back!) Notice the Earth looks flat from here? Good, that'll make the calculations easier. You'll also note that the speed of light causes a 1.28 second delay--isn't that neat?

3) Wait for it... Wait... Ride the moon until it's over Earth's 73W 02.070' longitude at the equator.

4) The cache is 384,027.23375 km from you at that point (using average distance between the Moon and Earth rounded off to nearest 1,000 km, IE, so it ends in x,000 km [and it's checksum equals 15].)

Earth courtesy NASA I'll let your logic dictate whether you want to search first in the Southern or Northern hemispheres (but I'll give a clue, it's not a terrain 5 rated cache so no boat needed!)

I finally found an online calculator that can do the math for you--email me the correct theorem or shape for the link. (Caution: most I found online didn't work correctly!)

(Although some have 'projected a waypoint' to successfully find this cache, there is a far simpler and more precise method.)

Congratulations! Finders are hereby encouraged to apply to NASA!!

The moon is unaffected by snow and is kid and dog-friendly (no bikes on the moon please).
