Geocache Description:

This cache is on the Strawberry Line, between Sandford and Congresbury. It is by the track leading to Honey Hall, overlooking a golf course.

It is well documented that bears climb trees to reach honey and teddy bears are associated with honey mainly due to the influence of Winnie-the-Pooh. A.A. Milne named this character after a toy bear owned by his son Christopher Robin Milne, who was the basis for the character of Christopher Robin. Winnie-the-Pooh (1926) is the first volume of these stories and you can read about his adventure with bees and honey in chapter 1. “In Which We Are Introduced to Winnie-the-Pooh and Some Bees and the Stories Begin”.

Honey is laid down by bees as a food source. The Promised land was reputed to be 'flowing with milk and honey'. In Jewish tradition honey is a symbol for the new year. In some parts of Greece, it was the custom for a bride to dip her fingers in honey and make the sign of the cross before entering her new home. This was meant to ensure sweetness in her married life, especially in her relationship with her mother-in-law! For at least 2700 years, honey has been used to treat a variety of ailments. Today, the main uses of honey are as a spread and as an addition to various beverages as a sweetener.

The standard cache box contains trinkets connected with Winnie the Pooh, honey and yellow. Please try to continue these themes. Thank you.
