Geocache Description:

Come one, come all to the 2008 Mid-Hudson Geocaching Picnic at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, NY on October 25th. This will be a very informal pot-luck picnic starting at 11:00 until whenever we leave or 6pm when the park closes. Everyone is welcome from the most experienced to new geocachers who want to find out what this is all about. Please bring a dish to share with others. I'll keep the page updated with what is being brought. I hope to have a nice turnout at my first event. I know that others have already promised help to put this on, so we should have a great time. Again, all are welcome and that includes kids as there is a lot to do in this beautiful park along the Hudson River.

The picnic will be held at Pavilion 2 where there is a large grill, plenty of picnic tables, attatched restrooms, and electricity. The pavilion is also handicap accessible. There is a large playground along with over 4 miles of hiking trails. There are 3 caches in the park currently, but there will be more by the time of the picnic. The event will be rain or shine (and hopefully not snow). We will have plenty of time for hiking as well as a raffle for prizes. If anyone would like to donate a prize, it would be appreciated and go with the others I have assembled.

Bowdoin Park is located on Sheafe Rd. and has some beautiful views of the Hudson River with well maintained trails. I'll have trail maps for all who attend at the pavilion. If you wish to visit their website, it is (visit link) They have detailed driving instructions if you need them, but I'm also including the park entrance coords on this page. For cachers with four legged friends, dogs are allowed as long as they are on a leash of no more that 6 feet.

Again, this is a very informal picnic intended to be fun for all. I'm sure it will be a great time. I've also had coins minted for the event. I hope to see you all there.
