A tribute to a magic moment in norwegian skiing history.

English

In 1982, the World Championship in cross contry skiing was held here in Holmenkollen. The 4x10km relay for men was - and still is - one of the most prestigeous competition in these games. In the final lap, Norway (Oddvar Brå) and the former Soviet Union (Aleksander Zavjalov) was fighting side-by-side when suddenly Oddvar Brå snapped his ski pole in two pieces. Luckily, he soon got a replacement pole. The two teams finished side-by-side and shared the gold medals. You can see the final 1km of this race at YouTube (external link above).

This cache is a tribute to that exciting moment. The cache is not at the site of the incident, since the tracks have been rebuilt since 1982, but people are encouraged to take a look at the video, estimate the position where this momentous sport event took place, and finally post coordinates to their best guess to the exact place.
