The Seattle-Everett interurban railway was the original ‘Light Rail
system’ running, not surprisingly, between Seattle and Everett.
From 1910 through 1939 the Interurban carried passengers and
freight to and from the many stops along the way. At the north end
of this portion of the line there was a bridge which carried the
trolleys over Aurora avenue. The abutment for the long gone bridge,
a prominent Aurora Avenue landmark for years, has recently been
removed and a new pedestrian bridge is being constructed to extend
the Interurban trail system.
If you visit the ‘Roots’ cache (GCJE1C) you can see one of the
trolley sets that ran on this light rail system. Also, since you
are here, be sure to check out the nearby Shoreline Interurban
Trail GCK0FW.
Use the hint if you want to take the fast track.
