The City of Portland has a new policy for geocaching on Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) property. The policy is intended to support this growing recreational activity while also ensuring it does not negatively impact parks, natural areas, or conflict with other uses. PP&R manages more than 300 parks and natural areas, totaling more than 11,000 acres.
The current PP&R geocaching policy is posted on PP&R's website: PP&R Policy: Geocaching in Portland Parks. Implementation of the policy for existing caches will begin soon after this event, and will be handled in stages throughout the summer.
This event is to learn about the policy and to ask questions of PP&R staff.
If, after you read the policy, you have specific questions for PP&R, you may post them before the event in this Google Document: Questions for Portland Parks and Recreation concerning their Geocaching Policy.
If you are unable (or unwilling) to post questions to Google Docs, you can send them to me.
