This cache is not on the ancient Forest boundary of the 1240 Perambulation, but has been placed as a waymark between Stenga Tor and Yes Tor. More details about the Perambulation can be found on the cache page for the Dartmoor Forest Bonus. On the front page of the logbook is an adjustment to be made to the Bonus co-ordinates, which you will need to find the Bonus.
Sandy Ford was until fairly recently known as Langaford. This was probably not the route that the knights took in 1240, but is mentioned in the 1609 survey, and provides a relatively inconvenient place to cross the river on foot. The water is shallow at most times, but without waterproof boots you will get wet feet. The whole floor of the river valley tends towards bogginess, so a careful choice of route across the valley is advised.
If doing this cache as a standalone, the closest parking is at the Meldon Reservoir (waypoint below). Follow the track around the south shore of the lake then head up the West Okement valley. The path gets quite boggy in places.
If doing the Perambulation as a route, the next point on is Ernestorre (Yes Tor). From Sandy Ford head up towards Fordsland Ledge, and the going is good underfoot and not too steep. From the Ledge it is a flattish walk along the ridge past High Willhays to Yes Tor.
