This multi-stage virtual cache is more mental than physical and is totally walkable from the parking lot. Don't feed the birds!
This virtual cache is intended to utilize some of the lesser used capabilities of your GPS. Before starting out, read all the instructions below and be sure you know how to perform all the functions you will need. It might even be worthwhile to dig out your instruction booklet and take it along.
The coordinates above are for the parking lot.
Be sure your unit is set for the WGS84 datum and a heading choice of TRUE.
I suggest that you set your unit up to read in metric units because it affords better precision than English units when reading decimal miles or kilometers. However, for metricphobes, I will include English units thusly: 0.201 km. (0.125 mi.), but be prepared for more error. In case your unit only reads to 2 decimal places, round off the number.
Since these waypoints are all located close to each other, I also suggest that you navigate with the GOTO pointer display rather than the map display.
Note: Snow on the ground might hamper your progress.
Coordinates are given for 3 light poles around the park:
P1= 39 58.356, 105 15.085
P2= 39 58.321, 105 15.056
P3= 39 58.348, 105 14.981
I suggest you walk around and locate them in the above order.
When you get to P3, start walking in a straight line back to P2.
Observe pole P1 on your right as you walk toward P2. When a wooden streetlight pole lines up directly behind P1, stop and mark this position. This is P4.
From the P4 position, enter a new waypoint P5 which lies .271 km (.169 mi.) away on a bearing of 45 degrees from P4. Proceed to P5. (Don't get your feet wet.) Record the name of the small country you find spelled out when you arrive at P5.
From P5 begin walking on a course of 34 deg. Stop when you arrive in the center of a 30-foot diameter circle. This is P6.
From the P6 position, enter a new (and final) waypoint P7 which lies .638 km (.396 mi.) away on a bearing of 216 degrees from P6. Proceed to P7. (Don't get your feet wet.)
When you arrive at P7, look around for a metal sign.
Using the code that "1" is the first letter in the top line of the sign, "2" is the second letter, etc, decode this:

You will immediately know if your calculations were successful.
E-mail me your answer and the name of the country to verify your success.
With waypoint data gathered from this cache, you can move on to the "Ball Bearing" cache.
