Geocache Description:

An easy cache at the Santa Teresa Golf Course upper clubhouse/banquet facility.

After spending months and countless hikes up steep hills in Santa Teresa County Park to place some tough (terrain-wise at least) multi-caches, I decided to put some easy ones in the park for lunchtime and entry-level cachers. This one is at the end of a parking lot on top of a small hill. The purpose of this cache is to bring you to this hill where you can get a nice view of Santa Teresa Park and the surrounding area. It is near the upper clubhouse (banquet facility) at the golf course, which is open to the general public and used as a banquet facility. This is technically part of Santa Teresa Park, so the cache, clubhouse, and parking lot are Santa Clara County Parks property.

The clubhouse is usually locked and empty. This was once the location of the main clubhouse for the golf course, but this was relocated to the course below. Occasionally there will be private affairs held here. It is also used for public meetings. The Friends of Santa Teresa Park, the volunteer group that supports the park, holds their meetings here the first Thursday of the month. Geocachers attend, as well as rangers and parks officials, and geocaching in the County Parks is a frequent topic of discussion. Geocachers who attend can talk to county parks authorities about the benefits of geocaching.

The Santa Clara County Parks Department used to hold their annual volunteer recognition dinner here.

The cache is a mini M&M's-size container with a logsheet. Bring your own pen or grab one at the golf course. There is an emergency pencil in the cache.

The cache is beyond the end of the parking lot. It is probably not wheelchair-accessible. Be careful not to trip on the satellite antenna cable. If the clubhouse is not being used, the parking lot is likely to be empty, and even if it is being used, the cache is out of sight of the clubhouse, but not the golf course. If there are people in the clubhouse, avoid it and park away from it. There is no charge to park here. It's a good place to stop and eat your bag lunch while enjoying the view. The only thing you have to worry about is muggles with the same idea.

Update 5/21/18: There was a restaurant here in the banquet facility. It was open during the day, and you could park nearby. The restaurant is now closed, and the road leading up to it may be closed off by a gate. You may have to park down below by the main clubhouse and walk up the hill to the facility.
