Geocache Description:

Genius Loci and I had just arrived at the cache "Bongo" where I was hunting for my 1900th find. The second I spotted the cache we both heard this loud and very distinctive {{{BONG}}}. It was so strange; we didn't know what to make of it. This sound was on our minds as we signed the log book and started walking back toward our car.

It was sunny, windy and very hot (85 degrees) for a spring day and so when we came to a bench there was an unspoken agreement that we'd sit for a spell. At first we were both very quiet, deep in our own thoughts about the sound we'd heard. Then, Genius Loci mentioned that he had heard a similar sound in the past but only on rare occasions. As he was describing the last time he heard it, I realized that I'd heard the sound before my self.

We ended up sitting for a long time reminiscing about caches we'd found where we remembered hearing the {{{BONG}}} and that's when we realized that every time either of us found a hundredth cache, we heard this sound. It seems strange but, the further we were from the Bong Recreation Area, the more distant the sound seemed.

It reminded me of Frank Capra's "It's a Wonderful Life" when young Zuzu Baily says "Look, Daddy. Teacher says every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings" and we all know it was Clarence who just earned his wings. Well, I earned my 1900th find and really enjoyed the fact that I found out where the {{{BONG}}} emanates from.

To find this cache proceed to the posted coordinates where you'll find yourself sitting where Genius Loci and I sat pondering this astounding phenomenon. To fully appreciate the nature of this discovery you'll want to be sure to visit the caches in the Bong Recreation Area when you will find one of your hundredth caches.
