Geocache Description:

YAPLIDKA (Yet Another Parking Lot I Didn't Know About). We've muttered this term a lot over the years, as we've been led via geocache to all sorts of fields of pavement. Heck, we're even guilty of hiding a few ourselves! THIS parking lot, however, has a slightly redeeming feature that we think some of you might enjoy. After locating the cache, cast your eyes over to that small set of stairs nearby. Now look in the distance - see those two tower structures? Take a closer look at that shorter tower on the left. See that massive tangle of sticks? You're looking at an active osprey nest!! The birds will be in the area from early spring until mid-fall and, if you look closely, you'll often see them perched around the nest. We'd recommend binoculars, a long-range telephoto lens, or a scope if you want a really close look. We stop by here whenever we're in the area - this year's pair seems very focused on something inside the nest these days, so we're thinking that there are definitely some offspring in there. Imagine taking your first flight off of that structure!
