Geocache Description:

Located in the 367 Acre Crumbacher Wildlife Area, a Buchanan County Conservation Property.

ATTENTION: According to a fellow geocacher, "wilderness mama", she reported seeing three albino deer in a nearby field. I have seen articles on these deer near Independence, but did not realize that they were near Crumbacher Wildlife Area. Be on the lookout for these deer when geocaching in this area!!

I already have one cache in Crumbacher and have noticed an abundance of wildlife when frequenting this area, so I decided to place another cache since it was big enough for multiple caches. There are two ways to get to this cache, the first is to head thru the prarie grass and trees and the other is to take the "trail" or path on the south side of the wildlife area. If you want to see wildlife and nature at its finest, take the prarie and wooded way, but you should have adequate footwear for wet grounds because the second set of prarie grass seems to be on top of a soggy area. During the wet months of summer, one might want to try and take the south path or your feet will get wet. This is the way that I took to hide the cache and scared up two turkeys and a pheasant. On your trip thru this area you just might encounter a buck or two, there were multiple paths caused by deer. The cache is a large rubbermaid container hidden behind geoflauge, but not at ground level. Please replace the geoflauge after finding this cache. The first to find prize is a white Nintendo Wii stocking cap. There are a variety of other items included concerning Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii.

I would like to have as many travel bugs as possible to visit this sight, but did not want to make it a travel bug resort since there is quite a hike to get to this cache and travel bugs might not move quite so fast if they were placed in this cache. The total round trip to the cache and back to the parking area is 0.82 miles, but much longer if you take the south "pathway". Don't forget to visit the other two caches in Crumbacher (Crumbacher Wildlife Area and Glacial Erratics of Crumbacher) after finding this one.

Once again, If you take the prarie route, watch out for water and ruts in the prarie grass, that is why the terrain is rated so high. Bring waterproof shoes if taking this route. I rated it a "4" on the terrain scale due to the fact that you might get your feet wet taking the route straight thru the center of Crumbacher.

THIS IS A HUNTING AREA SO WEAR BLAZE ORANGE DURING HUNTING SEASON!!
