The Mystery House of High House Road Traditional Geocache
NCreviewer: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

You seek a small container with a small log and small swag at the former site of an old house that once held many mysteries. Handicap accessible, but please use stealth as you will be exposed to many muggles here.
According to the book "Around and About Cary" by Thomas Byrd (1994, Edwards Brothers, Inc., pub.) where this particular shopping center was built, there once was "a desolate house with vacant windows and grinning rafters, a high four-square old house, dating from the Revolutionary times, but which had been deserted for many years"
The "home was known to many generations of Caryites as 'High House'....it was, supposedly, haunted. People also said treasure was buried there, which prompted a lot of digging." No treasure was ever found although the hearth and many of the interior walls were stripped in searching for it.
The house no longer stands here on the road which bears its name. But just think, somewhere under the blacktop you will be standing on when you find this cache, may just be the lost treasure that everyone was hunting for!!
