Geocache Description:

Our Lady of Mount Carmel is the Spanish patron saint of sailors. Star of the Sea is a religious reference to the Virgin Mary and how she is a cloud that arises from the sea. The sea is a religious metaphor proposed by the Medieval Carmelites; it meant that Mary, as star of the sea, guides its followers through the difficult waters of life to a safe harbor. Subsequent naval admirals and sailors saw a more literal meaning.

The prayer on the plaque reads,
"Que el mar levante contigo
que el viento este siempre por tu popa
y que el Señor mantenga tu nave
por siempre en el hueco de sus manos."

Roughly translated,
"May the sea rise with you
may you always find wind on your stern
and may the lord always hold your ship
in the hollow of his hands."

Cache is magnetically attached behind the plaque. If container is missing or there are too many people around the plaque, take a picture of yourself next to the plaque and I will allow a smiley for your efforts.
