Geocache Description:

Bring a pen

From the cache site you will be able to see Manchester Cathedral, Chethams School of Music, the Urbis Centre and the Printworks oh and the Corn Exchange. The Printworks was at one time called Maxwell House and was part of Robert Maxwells "empire", it was empty for a while and was used as a set for (the police station) in Prime Suspect.

It now contains bars and a Imax cinema The Urbis is a Museum of urban life in central Manchester. An unusual piece of architecture to say the least. In this area the Shaker movement was also founded by Ann Lee who was born an Christened here in 1736.

The Shakers were an off shoot of the Quakers founded in Manchester in 1772. The Corn Exchange was severely damaged in the bombing of Manchester in 1996, there is also still some evidence of bombing from the Second World War for those who care to look.

It acted as a covered Market very popular with students in the 1980's and 90's.

Chethams School of Music was originally founded as Bluecoat Orphanage for 40 boys in 1653. It became co educational in 1969 and entry is purely by musical audition. The hall itself was built in 1421.

The Triangle outside the Urbis and the Corn Exchange is very popular so retrieving the cache may require some stealth.
