Geocache Description:

This cache is part of the "CT Solar System" series of caches, each representing a planet's distance from the Sun, were the Sun located at the NY/CT State line and the Solar System scaled to the width of Connecticut.

This cache is found at one of my favorite birding and kayaking locations, Barn Island Wildlife Management Area. The Connecticut DEP describes it as the following: "The 1,013-acre Barn Island Wildlife Management Area is the State's single largest coastal property managed for conservation and wildlife purposes. The property provides a diverse range of ecoysystem and habitat types including hilly uplands, agricultural/open fields, mixed hardwood forests and salt, brackish and freshwater wetlands. It is a popular area for wildlife viewing and hunting. *Deer hunting is allowed in-season at this site. Hikers are therefore urged to use caution during hunting season. Please check the CT DEP Wildlife Division website for details. Trail guides are available for this site describing the nearly 4 miles of trails." The cache is a traditional ammo container filled with goodies for the kids. It is only slightly off a major trail that is less than a quarter of a mile from the first parking area (N 41 20.373/ W 71 52.652). No structures need to be moved to find this cache! Enjoy.

Pluto's orbit is not a circle but stretched, so that it is sometimes outside and then comes inside Neptune, but on average it is 40 times the distance Earth is from the Sun. In our example, it's under 10 minutes beyond Neptune but about two hours total from the Sun!
