On June 5, 2010 the Greater Charlotte Geocaching Club held their inaugural Adopt A Street CITO event. The GCGC, led by Foxult, applied for and was approved by the City of Charlotte's Adopt A Street Program to help keep a street in Charlotte clean by volunteering to walk and pick up trash and debris along the Ballantyne Commons Parkway from Old 521/Lancaster Highway (West end) to Johnston Road (East end). We gladly welcomed the opportunity for our club to give back to the community and what better way to earn a smiley than the satisfaction of knowing we helped the community along the way. During our event, we placed two new caches for other cacher to come and enjoy. This one and it's sister cache "Adopt A Street" Cache East. We hope you enjoy these caches as much as we enjoyed our event and placing them. If you have the opportunity, please watch this area for our quarterly CITO events that we will be having and come and join us at our next one.

Cache Specifics

The coordinates listed above are for the Western most sign of our adopted street. Once at this sign, you are less than 15 ft from the cache. Good geosense will tell you where to look. You will NOT have to cross the road when standing at the sign. Be careful where you park, as there is no parking along the roadway in this area. You must find a safe place to park a short distance away and walk to the cache. Please be careful of traffic as well. Clearly defined crosswalks are at the intersection, along with sidewalks to keep you off the road.

NOTE: FTF has already been claimed by Therapaint for this cache. At the placement of this cache, all those in attendance at the inaugural CITO event had their names placed in a hat as a drawing for who would get the FTF claim. Therapaint won that honor for this cache.
