2 Miles round trip - 500 ft gain - Cache is located above 8000 ft. Trail is usually covered with snow from November to April. One of the Best Hikes in the Area!
This is a fun hike for familys in the spring, summer and fall. To get to the cache in the winter will require snow shoes or cross country skis.

Use caution if the trail is icy in the spring.

When we set this up March 2, 2002 their was very little snow. I was wearing tennis shoes. One can walk around the patches of ice on the trail.

In the warmer months on every new moon weekend you will find up to a hundred amateur astronomers with their telescopes at the parking lot.

Dogs welcome.

Exit Interstate 5 at the Frazier Park exit. Just past Gorman if driving from Los Angeles. Drive 15 Miles to the end of the road parking lot at
34 48.786
119 7.581

Cache is located under a small pile of rocks. Look for unusual red Lichen on top of rock.

A great place for a over night backpack.

An Adventure Pass is required to park in the National Forest. You can get one at the Ranger Station at the turn for Lockwood Valley, at the bottom of the hill.

Enjoy.

Peace and Love

Taking the family up here to play in the snow and go for a short hike. This was our turn around point. Snow covered the cache and some of the others we attempted but thats ok we plan on coming back in the spring or maybe later this winter. View from this area are amazing especially coming from hwy166. Grabbed a GC and moving it along to the next cache. Thanks for the smiley.

Visited the log with Boy Scout Troop 599, Lancaster, CA, on a nice Saturday hike to the top of the mountain. The hike was followed by an evening of stargazing with local astronomers and very pleasant weather. Cache is in fine shape.

Rode my bike up here on a beautiful day. 8.6 miles and about 3000 feet of climbing. I'm sure looking forward to the ride down! Dropped a geocoin that wants to stay about 8000 ft. I think this cache should do it! I'm happy that there was a working pen in the cache because I forgot to bring one of my own in the scramble to get ready for this ride. TFTC!
