Geocache Description:

This should be a nice cache for those that are looking for a little adventure. Although no picnic to get to, you might want to bring a lunch and spend some time exploring the areas around the first tag and the cache. The cache will get you up close to some prominent rock formations you can see to the east while driving along Hwy 97 near Smith Rock. You will be able to see most of the Cascade peaks from the cache as well as a good look down into Sherwood Canyon and the many smaller rock formations in it. Find a nice spot to relax on some rocks, soak up the sun and enjoy the views.

There are several different ways to approach this one, but the best start may be from the parking coordinates listed below. Be sure to bring plenty of water, wear sturdy hiking boots, and allow plenty of time to complete the cache.

So, throw that picnic lunch into the daypack and begin your adventure by finding your way to the coordinates listed above. Here you will find a small metal tag in the hollow of an old juniper tree. On this tag will be the actual coordinates to the cache. There is nothing about this cache that involves walking a straight line and there is a fair amount of uphill climbing involved, so your approach to the tag and the cache may require a little thought. Be sure to bring your camera and binoculars. There will be many interesting things to look at...and the next time you drive along Hwy 97 near Smith Rocks, you can say...'Hey, I've been up there!'. Hope you enjoy the hunt!
