The Tug River flows through Hatfield McCoy Feud territory and the town of Matewan, site of the Battle of Matewan, also known as the Matewan Massacre.
Paddle the Tug River while finding this series of caches that can only be accessed by watercraft. You will see a lot of wildlife and we hope you enjoy this series of caches. While placing these caches, we saw many species of waterfowl, deer, beaver, and turtles to name a few.
This is a river, please respect the water and wear a life jacket and use the buddy system. Also, be warned there are two or three sections that will get your heart rate up and you might get a little wet, so please use caution when navigating those areas.
The containers are sealed with an O-ring, so please do not overtighten the lids. Also, you may want to bring a sharpie to sign the logs.
