Geocache Description:

The only non-lame cache in a series that, evidently, does not have a copyright.

This is the last cache that I will be hiding in the Calgary area as I am taking a 1 year IT contract in Chandler, Arizona.

I've really enjoyed the caching in the Calgary area and wanted to say a big "Thank you" with this cache. Don't worry, I'll still be haunting the CAC board, - I'll also be coming back monthly to spend time with my family.

One day I was on the other side of the Bow River hiding one of my puzzle cache finals and I spotted what appeared to be a little bay on the other side of the river. I drove all the way around to the other side to see if I could access it but was thwarted everywhere by "No Trespassing" signs. I kept this place in the back of my mind and when XRN95 and I recently did "Creepy Ol' Tree" and 'A "Dam" good View' I realized that this access point had promise.

So, packing a ammo can of swag in my backpack I took off from the suggested parking coords, below, and found a nice trail that took me right to where I wanted to go - the first half of the trail takes you to 'A "Dam" good View'.

You can park here in Valley Ridge : N51 06.020 W114 16.019

and start a beautiful 2.3 km ( each way ) hike along the Bow River. From the parking take the paved trail to the right (closest to the river). Where it turns left away from the river, you will see a grass path through a fence. Follow that trail to a small wooden bridge at N51 06.009 W114 16.203.

The terrain is reasonable with only a few huff and puff hills but is definitely worth the effort. Before you start your final descent to the bay area there are a couple of nice benches at N51 06.082 W114 17.371 where you can takea quick break and snap some nice pictures of the Bow River andarea.

I started my descent very soon after the benches and followed some piping down a gulley ( piping water out of the Bow? ) - this is a good way to go, probably around these coordinates : N51 06.092 W114 17.438

The bay at this time of year is frozen over and you can hear the creepy sounds of ice shifting and breaking up ... pretty cool. In the summer this place will be even more beautiful with the melted river in full flow. If you're religiously inclined, as I am, as you appreciate the trip to the cache and explore the bay and surrounding sandstone structures perhaps you'll whisper "Oh, thank Heaven."

In the cache area there are several large rocks that provide many potential hidey spots. For this reason I have set the difficult to 2.5. As mentioned above, the cache is a camo-painted ammo can - there is a FTF prize ( an unactivated geocoin, can't remember which one, doh! ). This cache is well stocked and I ask that you please trade fairly. I have placed no golf balls or McToys in this cache and don't expect to hear of any getting traded in. Don't make me hunt you down! Actually, Red90 and XRN95 have agreed to help maintain this cache ... I'll sick them on ya!

NOTE : ONE CACHER, ONE TRADE ITEM!

This is a NoCCRAP certified cache :
