MiGO Cleans a
County-Roscommon
Hosted by Vanman_30 &
Sleepyweasel73
Sponsored by the NL Chapter of
MiGO
Roscommon County has the 2nd highest number of
dump
sites in the Adopt-a-Forest program (1st
is in the UP)
We
plan to clean Adopt-a-forest sites in Lyon,
Lake,
Markey, Backus & Roscommon
Townships
(About 1/2 of the county, more if we get enough
people)
We
are working with the DNR's Adopt-a-Forest program to
clean
up
reported dumpsite. We will be requesting support of
businesses
and individuals to provide the materials and dumpsters
required
for the cleanup. The program's funding is limited and
we
hope to use them as a last resort. We will ask people to
take
home a few bags if they can be safely transported to
be
put out for their normal trash pick-up. The tires will
be
hauled to a DNR collection site in Grayling while scrap
metal
will be recycled. Further recycling efforts will be
made
but will require further sorting at dumpster
sites

Accommodations
Korbinski's Lakeview Motel & Resort
364 W. Houghton Lake Drive
Prudenville
(about 5 miles from the main event site)
(989)366-5306
The rooms are under- "Geocaching-MiGO"
We currently have a block of 5 rooms available @ $55/night
They had 13 rooms available, 2 of which have kitchenettes that
carry a slightly higher cost.
The more rooms we book over 5, the lower the price will go.
This resort is owned by a local family and coming highly
recommended.
There are a few chain motels further west in Houghton
Lake,
yet
they come at a much higher cost and are not willing to deal in the
summer.
Please
email RSVP if you can attend,
include the number of
people
attending and any equipment you can bring
or helpful
connection you might have.
(Please post
"Will Attend" log below,
