Happy Birthday (again) Chicken Lady!
This cache is replaced in honor of 'The Chicken Lady' (on her birthday), who used to live in what is now Silver Sands State Park. When the State tried to take her home by eminent domain, she fought it, wanting 'land for land'. Even though they bull-dozed her house while she was at work, she toughed it out for years in a makeshift dwelling, raising chickens and ducks and the occasional ruckus in the newspaper... Although I learned about her after she passed of cancer, and have no idea where her abode was, I felt a cache tucked away in this corner of the park was appropriate (heck, it was even a landfill at one time)! Many bicyclists and walkers use the defunct road between Walnut Beach and Silver Sands, so please be aware--the cache is well off but barely hidden. There is a clear path, find it first or get extra muddy.
This cache is kid and bike friendly. (Watch where you step, some small PI nearby...)
