This cache is located near Rhinelander on city property. There are walking and biking trails surrounding this lake. The trails are easy to navigate.
The area of this cache is very unique, in that is in a densely populated area of red sumac. This tree / woody bush has fire red leaves in the fall, providing an amazing color show. The fruit also has many uses that have been passed on through the generations and cultures. Always positively identify any wild edibles prior to using them for anything. Our id of this plant is untrained. Check out the included websites for further information on this unique wild plant. The cache is located in an area densely populated with these sumac. There are also some wild blackberry plants in the area. I wouldn't wear shorts in here, as the spines on the blackberry plants could scratch you. The cache includes Hodag items.
This cache is also part of the Great Northwoods Treasure Hunt. There is a unique identifier on the cache note, that can be described on your cache card, qualifying you for additional prizes.
This location would be an electric view in the fall!
