If you are walking clockwise around the hill, coming from the ford and don't want to repeat any paths, then take the footpath to Bonfire Hall and follow the track down to the minor road near Cold Harbour. Then come west to the cache. Bonfire Hall also misses out one of the patches of mud.
The lane here is quite narrow and has some areas that can be damp after rain as small seeps appear. Near Cold Harbour Gamblesmire Lane meets the road. It's a great route up onto the Scars and past a cache at the lime kiln.
The trees may make the GPS tricky at the cache site. It's on the south side by the corner, with a nice view over Knott. Just along from it is an old 'laid' tree which provides a handy bench to sit and admire the view.
