For those who don't know, N.U.T.S. is "Northstate Unusual Treasure Seekers", a name voted on at the Oroville Pizza party. And now we in Redding would like to gather all N.U.T.S. or like minded cachers to meet.
We will meet at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 23, at the coordinates and have a lunch. BBQ Tri Tip will be provided and we ask you to bring potluck chips, salads, or desserts. After lunch there will be a cache finding contest with prizes for first, second, and third. The event cache is in an alcohol free zone; Sorry, no beer. Bring your own sodas and water, it should be very warm. We'll be covered in the event of rain. Bring a item to donate to a raffle, proceeds to help pay for the event. Be ready for a good time. Come Saturday and cache for local favorite caches. Check the forums, and we'd appreciate it if the locals would list a couple of favorites.You must reserve by logging on so we can have a count for lunch and know what potluck item you will bring.
LET THE GAMES BEGIN
I have a geocache game planned for after the meal. There will be a list of geocaches for you, some real, some just for the game. Caches will have points based on difficulty and time involvement. Participants can plan their strategy during lunch, then try to cache as many points as possible in 1 1/2 hours. There is a nice mixture selected, with some caches best found via auto, some by bike, and some by walking. Tacky prizes will be awarded; Just like real geocaching!
Please note that many of the finds are not official geocaches, and will not count as smilies. Several are real, and may be counted if you have not logged them.
