Build a bridge to build a marina.
Somebody had some land for sale in the south. Problem was there was only a punt to the island. So they ordered a bridge. Stop said the locals. There was a royal commission and they still built the bridge. The marina was built and the houses constructed. Then they pulled the plug in the river. Perhaps there really was some secret women's business.
