Geocache Description:

Even though the number of participants is much greater than the original 75 that attended in 2004, GeoWoodstock still maintains a laid back atmosphere and fun for all.  GWXIII provides the opportunity for geocachers, both new and experienced, to get together and enjoy a relaxing fun-filled day for the entire family. Bring your best caching stories and hang out with geocachers from around world!

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO ATTENDED (all 5000 of you)!

Event time: 9 AM - 5 PM

Welcome to Washington County Maryland and the Washington County Agricultural Education Center in Boonsboro. We invite you to experience GeoWoodstock and all that our state and county have to offer!

Maryland has been called "America in Miniature" because so much diversity is packed into its 10,460 square miles of land and water. From from our beautiful beaches and coastal plains, to the hills and valleys of the Blue Ridge, and to the high Appalachian Plateau, you'll find a bit of everything nature has to offer.

Washington County is full of rich history and the area is a gateway to many colonial and Civil War heritage sites. South Mountain State Battlefield, Antietam National Battlefield, Harper's Ferry National Historic Park, Washington Monument State Park, and The Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park are just a few of the many treasures to experience while in the area. The county is located in the Appalachian Mountains and the Appalachian Trail traverses the heart of the county.  Nearby historic Boonesboro and Hagerstown are just a few minutes away, and both Baltimore and Washington D.C. are just an hour and a half drive. With one foot in the north, and one foot in the south, the story of the Civil War, its causes, battles, heroes and villains...its very meaning can be told nowhere better than in this part of Maryland.

We have many fun activities and events planned, and details will be posted on the GeoWoodstock website as the event date approaches. We'll also fill you in on lodging and camping details, and lot's of information to help you make the most out of your visit and the event!
