Geocache Description:

Welcome to the 100 Acre Woods Cache Series

This series is based on Winnie the Pooh and is a tribute to the 100 acres of city parkland that we have to enjoy each and every day.   Since being introduced to Geocaching, I have been completely amazed at the number of local parks that I never knew ever existed, and if it was not for Geocaching, I do not believe I would ever have had the pleasure of exploring even a fraction of them.

The purpose is to celebrate the local parks we have and to promote members and families to walk through some of the vast number of parks that the city has to offer.

This series is also a tribute to my birthday and my 500th cache milestone.

A birthday is a celebration of life and continued good health.  In our family it is a tradition that when you are having a birthday that instead of you receiving gifts you are expected to give someone a gift.  It could be another family member, volunteering your time and talents, giving a gift to a friend, or someone less fortunate, or perhaps a stranger.  This year I am celebrating my birthday with my fellow geocachers, by giving to you all this cache series.  Starting from Sept 21 (which is my actual birthday) I will be having a couple of caches published each week, until all the caches have been published.

The series is made up of 13 traditional caches which are hidden in various parks throughout the Surrey/Langley area.  For those like myself who are not fond of micro caches then you are going to like this series because there is NO micro caches.  Each cache is a Lock&Lock style box, for those who enjoy nothing better than finding those pesky immature micro caches, well you either have to suck it up, or go and find some other caches to hunt for.  Each cache contains some swag items, and at least one clue that is required when finding the the final mystery/puzzle cache.  To complete the series you must find and record all the clues contained in each of the 13 traditional caches and use them to decode the following message that will direct you to the final cache.

The final cache is a large ammo box of which the contents are four characters from the 100 acre woods as travel bugs waiting to be set free to venture from cache to cache within the 100 acre woods.  Please one per geocacher.
There are also many other Pooh theme special swag items and other special items which I am not going to spoil the fun but will let you find out for yourself.  What I will say is just that the items contained are unique and premium items, so come prepared to trade fairly. The final cache will have a FTF, 2TF, 3TF, and a 4TF certificate.

Enjoy the series, and a special thank you to the City of Surrey and the Langley Township for supplying the caches with their city swag.

Kanga's House

Kanga is Roo's tenderhearted mom and also a motherly figure to the rest of the gang. She is the voice of reason -- a symbol of security and full of mother's intuition. Kanga dotes on Roo but also knows when to give him room to be a kid. Kanga is proud of Roo for demonstrating that he's much wiser than his years. Kanga also comes the nearest of all the Pooh characters to serving the role of a parent to the other characters. She will offer motherly advice - and food - to anyone who asks her. In particular, she immediately "adopts" Tigger when he comes to the Forest, welcoming him into her home, attempting to find him food he likes, and eventually allowing him to live with her and Roo. Later when Tigger moves in, Kanga treats him much the way she does her own son, with kind words, gentle discipline, and even his own version of "strengthening medicine". Kanga likes to keep things clean, and when she feels especially motherly, she likes to count and organize things. She can sign her own name, as she does on the "rissolution" that the animals give to Christopher Robin, but there is no other indication of whether she can read or write.

Although this area is not officially denoted as a city park, there are talks currently being discussed to convert this area, into one.  It is an area that is not currently used by, which is fairly evident when you venture into here.  It is one of the last virtually untouched original forested areas left in Surrey.  I little ways to the North is where Roo and friends play.  If you venture that way you will see the forts and old car that they use.  The cache is a medium size ammo box, which its original contents contains FTF pin, city pins, stickers, magnets, pen, a wet wallet protector, keychain light, a small first aid kit, and of course clue #4 for the final puzzle cache.
