Geocache Description:

Join the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority (YDNPA) for a day out in Malham.

The event will be at 2.00 p.m. in the picnic area of the Malham National Park Centre.

Join Dales Diva for a walk

There will be a limited number of places on a walk around Malham with Dales Diva, one of several YDNPA staff and volunteers who are also cachers. The walk will last about 3 hours and start from the Malham National Park Centre at 10:30 a.m. Bring a packed lunch and drink.

The route (about 5 miles) will be over rough ground so suitable footwear is needed and a moderate level of fitness although we will go at a slow pace. Dogs welcome but on leads at all times and need to be fit enough to go up over ladder stiles. We will look at the geology and archaeology of the area and anything else people are interested in and maybe a cache or two. Dales Diva will also talk about the dos and don'ts of caching in a protected landscape. If you wish to go on the walk please email katy.fairclough@yorkshiredales.org.uk

Not going on the walk? There's lots to do in the area...

Round your day off meeting other cachers at the event in the picnic area.

Note that Malham is a popular destination for a day trip, and parking is limited if the car park fills up. I would suggest that you plan to arrive preferably before lunch and enjoy the area even if you are not going on the walk. The car park and village are wheelchair and pushchair accessible, but I suspect narrow roads and gradients will confine wheelchairs to the small village. See the YDNPA website for details of accessible attractions, or email me via my profile if you have questions.
