The Burns Harbor was originally launched in May 1980 as a part of the International Steel Group – Burns Harbor fleet.
With owner transfers of the steel companies this boat has sailed under many flags, today it sails under the management of American Steamship Company.
The boat is a self unloading bulk carrier and is just over 1,000 feet in length and has a maximum load capacity of 78,850 tons. It is powered by 4 V20 cylinders, 3,600 horsepower diesel engines.
