The Slieve League (Grey Mountain) cliffs rising to 1972 feet, and are the highest marine cliffs in Europe with a three hundred metre drop straight down into the wild, Atlantic waves below. This creates a breathtaking and,sometimes, scary view. However, there is much more to see besides the cliffs. For walkers (for whom this cache is graded 2/5) out of Glencolumcille or Carrick there are terrific views of the sea, the Sligo Mountains and. Donegal Bay can be clearly seen as you walk towards the terrifyingly high top of Slieve League and the infamous "One Man's Path" which must be approached with extreme caution as it is very dangerous.
For the more sedate it is possible to drive to the area of the cache. On reaching the road end car park at Bunglas a walkers ascent to Slieve League summit commences. Many people climb the first , relatively easy, 100-150 feet to see the famous Giant's Table and Chair just offshore.(Boots recommended in wet weather) The cache lies here in a safe to approach location and contains lots of goodies for the kids. Your challenge is not so much in finding the cache as finding the route to the car park! Happy hunting and enjoy the views. Cahe is a 1l tabloc camoflaged box.
Update 11/1/11 - Cache has been replaced at the same location with a new log and set of swaps. Please trade up or even as I had to remove quite a bit of junk on this visit. TNLN is perfectly acceptable - it is your visit which is important.
