Hidden amongst the trees are what remains of a once well-traveled bridge, long since reverted to use for walking paths and a 4X4 vehicle trail.
This bridge has been closed so long that there are actually trees growing up in and around the superstructure! When you go down from trail head at Broadway street, you'll go past a two-horse sleigh to where three trails meet at the bridge. One trail goes south along Peter Creek following on the outskirts of Valley Falls; the other trail, frequented by joggers, hikers, and bicyclists, takes you back up around past Haigs pond to the swimming pool, which point is the beginning of 4X4 trail following along where the old railroad tracks of Kansas City and Northwestern Railroad ran from Valley to Denison.
