The twentieth bi-monthly event to try and bring the cachers of Dartmoor the surrounding area and everyone else who can make it to meet for an informal social evening to chat, catch up with old friends, make some new ones and even put some faces to those names you often see in the logs. I will be there from about 7pm until 11pm This months event will be taking place at the Rock inn in Yelverton.
A bit about the Rock inn.
The Rock Inn has always been and remains Yelverton’s Premier Free House. Parts of the building date back to the time of Drake, and the “wet Rock” is one of the oldest buildings in Yelverton, the “dry Rock”, also known as Udel Tor or Roborough Rock is clearly visible on Roborough Down.
Originally a Coaching House, the building was converted from a private house in the early 1800’s. The Rock Hotel, under the ownership of the Langton family since 1880's, held a prestigious three star AA rating from 1935 until 1966, when it was renamed The Rock Inn by George Langton. Georges’ father, Algy Langton, Grandfather of the present proprietors, Sue and Paul, was the instigator of the continuous alterations and improvements to the original building. Photographs bearing witness to the various stages of the developments can be seen in the Lounge Bar.
