Geocache Description:

This is a Challenge Cache based on one of the first things we teach our kids, the ABCs.
Congrats to Thing1 & Thing2 for FTF!

**NOTE** Please do not retrieve the final cache before you have completed the requirements! Read on:
Here is your chance to meld the ABCs with geocaching and the Steelers --- a challenge cache to work on.
To claim this cache, you will need to find and log 26 other caches, one for each letter of the alphabet. All caches must be found in the US Census Bureau's definition of the Combined Pittsburgh-New Castle Metropolotain Statistical Area. This means that the caches MUST be in one of the following Pennsylvania counties:
  • Allegheny
  • Armstrong
  • Beaver
  • Butler
  • Fayette
  • Lawrence
  • Washington
  • Westmoreland
These counties were picked because they are part of the "official" Pittsburgh Metro area, not because the far outer ring counties and states are any less "Steeler Nation"... All caches must be found and logged ON or AFTER 1 May, 2009. This means you have to find new ones, not just re-log or log a note on the LPC in the Mega-Mart parking lot down the street you found as cache #5. Hey, if was easy, I'd make it a 1/1...
Here’s the process that you will have to follow to complete this Challenge:
  1. Create a public bookmark called “Heart of Steeler Nation ABC Challenge".
  2. Include this cache in your bookmark; since you haven’t found it yet, it doesn’t count – you will need another “H” cache
  3. Keep this bookmark public for a minimum of 1 month after completing the challenge.
  4. Include one cache that is located in the above list of counties in Pennsylvania that you have found for each letter of the alphabet
    • In the cache bookmark comments, include the date you found the cache. Caches found before May 1, 2009 do not qualify for this Challenge.
    • Successfully find and log caches (events are not valid for this challenge) the names of which begin with each letter of the alphabet. (26 caches)
      Examples:
      • The Big Ben Cache = T
      • We Are the Super Bowl Champs = W
      • Six Rings = S
      • Big Ben Rocks =B
      • “King of the NFL” = K
      • 6 Rings = *Doesn't count for this challenge cache!*
      • One More Ring = O
A look at your alphabetized bookmark list will indicate whether or not you have each letter.
  5. The posted coordinates are truly at the heart of Steeler Nation; you will be able to see where the day-to-day work of building a Super Bowl winning team is carried out. The final is a 1.5/2.5 Lock-and-Lock in a very Steelers related location. No Peeking before you are ready!!!
  6. This cache has been given this particular difficulty ranking because I have no idea which caches you may choose to do for this challenge. It will take some time to complete, and will require some planning as well. I hope you enjoy this twist to our mutual hobby/passion/obsession.(Thanks to txoilgas and the Texas ABC Challenge, from whom I unashamedly lifted the idea... Although, I will admit that txoilgas would probably prefer a Cowboys implementation...)
