Geocache Description:

An awesome sight when the river level is up.

Welcome to the Edmund S. Muskie Memorial on the Androscoggin River. Rumford Falls (known to the Indians as the Great Falls), which drops about 180 feet in one mile over the three barriers, is also renowned as the greatest drop East of Niagara. Historically, Indians gathered at the base of the Great Falls to hold tribal ceremonies in which they gave honor to the Spirit of the Mighty Waters. There is also a tribute to these natives at this area. Please bring your own pencil.
