You don't have to go too far from the Bowling Club parking lot to find the cache, but if you have some extra time, there is more to explore in this urban park. The cache is close to Little Shoal Bay, in a relatively open space (good GPS reception).
Mind your footing approaching the cache, there are some surprise holes in the ground.
You can continue along the path and come across a stream. Go further still, and if you 'choose wisely', you will reach Onewa Road, not too far from the Birkenhead Shops.
At time of placing, the olive-brown plastic screwtop container had:
a pretty porcelain doll keychain
a set to make touchable bubbles
a small silvery spanner
a 'Happy Chinese' bottle opener
a small notebook
a logbook, sharpener and pencil
