St. George's was mostly rebuilt in the late 15th Century, probably circa 1475 for William Whitchurch, Abbot of Hailes. The church has a well-designed Perpendicular style West tower of three stages complete with diagonal buttresses, battlements and pinnacles. This tower rises from inside the nave and is supported on three sides by open arches visible in the interior.
