This cache is in a park with the best view of downtown Baltimore! It is also historic and a favorite of locals and visitors. There is a playground for the kids inside the fence and dog-friendly outside.
This cache is our and the caching communities' favorite-over 300 people have done this and the view is superb.
The original cache location of over 3 years has finally been compromised and has required that we change over to a 35 mm film container in a different location right by the overlook. I plan on putting a few more film containers near the current one for trading items later.
Note the huge flag visible from all of downtown is 15 stars. Baltimore is home to the Star Spangled Banner written during the War of 1812, the turning point of which occurred at Fort McHenry, just visible from this vantage point. There are caches there and on the way.
The 2 rating for terrrain only applies if you climb the hill from the Inner Harbor rather than drive up.
BTW, if you park close-by, read the meter requirements! Woody6 got a parking ticket for being there 5 minutes.
The area is very popular especially with dog-walkers (who usually don't keep their pooches on a leash despite the signs). Please remove the cache discretely, take it to a nearby bench and replant it as found.
Enjoy the view-many people bring a meal, sit on a bench and watch the scenery. There are many historic markers describing the Hill's history along with impressive statues of local heros of the War of 1812, wherein Baltimore's heroism saved the Nation!
This should be ideal for short term visitors to the city and is an easy walk from all the downtown hotels. This cache is part of our downtown series: the nearby 'Lost Pride', Heart of it All,A Great Shot,7 Ft Knoll, A Surprisingly Interesting Museum! and a few others a bit further to walk.
