How Geocaching Works
This traditional cache is placed along the original Military Ridge road that ran from Milwaukee to the Mississippi.
The best place to park is N43 0.947 W89 49.467 where you can take the concrete walkway towards the cache. You're looking for an ammo box with log book and trinkets. There will be some slight terrain changes, and you'll want to dress appropriately for hiking through underbrush. If you're keen to biking or hiking along Military Ridge State Trail, this cache is just off of it and easily accessible.
This cache is in Hidden Mounds Park, named after the Native American artifact mounds that are there, but not visible. What IS visible, however, is the last unspoiled (and best-preserved) section of the old Military Ridge Road that ran from Milwaukee to the Mississippi.
We've placed sheets in the cache that gives more history about the area. Please take the time to read them - we think you'll enjoy them.
Don't worry that it's near houses. One of them belongs to the cache owner and the neighbors know about the cache being there. You won't be bothered, but you might be offered a cold beverage.
Enjoy the hunt, and enjoy our beautiful area!
