You can access
this cache a couple different ways, if you drive from the
campsite west up the hill on township road 542 and turn at
the sign that says park viewpoint the terrain rating
would be 1.5 or you could choose to climb the hill from the
campsite and the terrain rating would be more like a 4. From
the cache site you get an excellent view of the North
Saskatchewan River where the Vermilion River runs into it. If
you keep following the trail to the end there are spectacular
views of both rivers, the Lea Park Campground, the Lea Park
Rodeo grounds and the Lea Park Golf course. Mark this down as
a must see it is incredible, especially during the
summer. Beware of the rose bushes.
Bring your golf clubs
and play a round of golf after finding the cache. Lea Park also has
a very nice campground with a playground, dumping facilities and a
camp kitchen. Then there is the annual Professional Rodeo that is
held around the second weekend in June. The park gates are closed for the winter
months if you want to find the cache during this time, you will
have to park at the gate and hike from there.
