“Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the
sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of
stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne,
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows
lie,
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find
them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind
them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows
lie.”
The Dark Tower has been rebuilt and Sauron’s power has been
spreading far and wide. The Dark Lord falsely believed that the One
Ring had been destroyed but he has learned that it still exits, and
he is seeking it. If he recovers it he will have the strength and
knowledge to beat down all resistance, break the last defenses, and
cover all the lands in a second darkness. He also knows that it is
in the Shire and that Baggins possesses it. You must help Frodo
flee the Shire and head to Rivendell for the council of Elrond. If
you fail in your quest, middle-earth as we know it shall be no more
and Sauron will rule forever, making slaves of all the free
creatures of this world.

Each cache location will contain a multiple-choice question that
you must correctly answer to get the next location. This cache
could take you anywhere from several hours to several days. The
terrain is relatively easy but there is a good amount of hiking
(hence the higher terrain rating; but it is split up by driving,
biking, rollerblading, or however you decide to move from trail to
trail.)
ALL QUESTIONS REFER TO J.R.R. TOLKIEN’S “FELLOWSHIP OF THE
RING.” If you can’t find one of the caches chances are you
picked the wrong answer. I highly recommend you have a map of the
trails, you can obtain one free of charge at the Ranger
Station.
ONE OTHER IMPORTANT THING TO NOTE IS THAT ALL CACHES ARE
RELATIVELY CLOSE TO THE TRAIL, you should not have to bushwack
through brush, prickers, fragile plants, or anything else to get to
them. Presque Isle is a fragile area so please respect it. Do not
break branches, litter, or bushwhack to get these caches. Always
scout around to find the best way in and please remove any trash
you find along the trails (remember cache in trash out, we need to
give geocaching a good name).
You are under no obligation to hunt this cache. Like any outdoor
sport or activity (hiking, backpacking, mountain biking) Geocaching
involve risk to both persons and property. There are many variables
including, but not limited to, legal concerns, weather, fitness
level, terrain features and outdoor experience, that must be
considered prior to seeking a Cache. It is the responsibility of
the searcher to be familiar with the conditions in the area to be
searched, to adequately prepare for those conditions, and to
conduct oneself safely and responsibly and remain within his or her
personal abilities and limitations. Children should be well
supervised. By attempting this cache you acknowledge the above
conditions and agree to hold the cache placers/webpage creator
non-liable for any events, which may occur and agree to provide
this disclaimer to anyone with whom you share this information. In
no way shall the cache placers be liable for any direct, indirect,
punitive, or consequential damages arising of or anyway connected
with the seeking of this cache or the information contained on this
page. Cache seekers assume all risks involved in seeking this
cache.
There is the danger of Ticks and mosquitoes (no midges though).
I strongly recommend taking measures to prevent Tick bites.
This is a themed cache, therefore all trade items need to be
Tolkien related. (ie books, video games, music CD's, toys,
trading card game packs (can pick them up for like $3.00 a pack or
something,), movie merchandise, etc.
Good luck, the fate of middle-earth lies in your hands!
