This cache is located in the town of Akron. KANSAS! This was a branch of the Rock Grain Company which the Mulvane Coop, which I manage, acquired at auction.
This location, we really did not want, but it came with the deal. We have done nothing as far as cleaning this place up. When you visit, you will notice! There is a terrible stench from the rotten grain that has been left three years ago, when this facility was closed.
Unfortunately this location will be abandoned. The big Butler building that was used for grain storage has been sold. The machinery in the elevator will be taken for salvage. That leaves the iron clad wood frame elevator for us to dismantle or BURN! How about a barbeque this winter…..bring your hot dogs!!!
I had a lot of fun hiding this cache. I hope that you check it out! It is hidden differently than any cache you have ever found. The cache is a Rubbermaid container. It contains souvenirs from the Rock Grain Company among other things. Have fun, and be sure to check out my other Rock Grain Caches!
CAUTION!!! If you are crossing the railroad tracks, be sure to check both ways before crossing. There are no crossing arms that you are used to. These trains really roll through this area!!!
