Living locally we're somewhat biased, but this is a marvellous stretch of beach. We never swim as often as we promise ourselves, but that's not the fault of the beach!
There is free parking year round at N50 44 543 W001 41 364. This would make a 2 mile round trip.
Much nearer there are two public car parks (both with toilets) either side of the Cache:- Wharncliffe Road N50 44 281 W001 41 798 and Highcliffe Castle N50 44 248 W001 42 860. Parking is free in winter. Despite being most expensive, Highcliffe Castle can get full in summer. The "castle" has its own website. Current fame is due to being home of Mr Selfridge. The gate between the castle and beach is locked between dusk and 7.00am. You can access the grounds and excellent tearooms without paying.
Update 2018 - Unfortunately one of the paths from the castle to the beach - the closest to the cache - is currently closed as unsafe. Ongoing attempts to get the Council to pay for repairs... Castle itself (not grounds) closed until March 17 for refurbishment.
If you want to "cache and dash" there is a footpath starting in Beacon Drive N50 44 306 W001 42 353. The surrounding roads are all single yellow line - no parking 1st April - 30th September 10.00am - 7pm.
There may be a lot of muggles around – especially on sunny weekends. Unfortunately GPs signal is not good from "access point" (see hint). If stuck find seat in name of John Hoskins (not Wilkie), where you should get a good GPs signal and idea of where to look. But you cannot walk "straight" from that point. The trees and vegetation generally have changed in the, nearly, 12 years since cache was placed!
